You can run even if you don’t look like a “runner” and you can enjoy running even if you aren’t a “runner” and you can be a runner even if you don’t enjoy it all the time. #runasyouare #runningforanyone #IH❤️TErunningThis year feels SO DIFFERENT at my 5th #WCS2023 Women Coaches Symposium.Running when you can’t really run… I’ve been doing 10min “runs” in my basement. Normally the weekly track run is my one quality workout a week. So many times this morning I thought about not going or about quitting. Instead I ran with a much slower pace group and I’m so glad I did!Don’t confuse years with forever or never.

How To Stay Warm (When Freezing Climates Are Not Your Thing)
Some people do well in the cold. I am not one of them. Being even a little bit cold makes me crabby. I am prone to all sorts of cold injuries, including being pre-hypothermic a handful of times. Some people … Continue reading

Stick Bathing
Part one of our 2021 winter adventure starts with Not Hot. I may be biased, but I highly recommend it. An entirely different experience from traveling on the ice, was our regular stick baths. If Japanese forest bathing is like … Continue reading

Not Hot
I confess. This is the first winter camping trip where we didn’t camp. I’ve never been so tested on how many times our adventure plans could change. Original plans went 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Then became 2, 3, … Continue reading

5 Winter Camping Lessons
As Will and I are getting ready for our ninth winter camping adventure in mid February, I should share a story from once upon a time… In February 2020, right before the end of the world as we knew it. … Continue reading
Well Above Zero
There are nice things about camping when it’s way below zero. No one goes through the ice. Everything is dry. All the gear feels appropriate and well used. And when you asked “Hey, what temperature is it?” “Well above zero!” … Continue reading
Winter Camping, Continued
Last week I began the tedious timeline of winter camping. Some read it as if it were a horror story. I can feel them cringing yet somehow they didn’t look away because I got plenty of aghast comments. Other hardy … Continue reading
Winter Camping Timeline
A week ago Will and I had our sixth winter camping adventure together. We’ve had all sorts of experiences out there. Warm years, wet years, hard years, easy years… It’s always interesting. This year we took Annalesa and I’m working … Continue reading
Tortoise Raging
It went too well! The problem with having a nearly perfect trip is there is less of a story to tell. The TL,DR (“Too Long, Don’t Read”) version of this goes: The weather was awesome, we were awesome. It … Continue reading

Camping Thwarted
It wasn’t for lack of trying. It just felt particularly difficult this year. Type two fun still has to feel worth it. Sometimes being temporarily miserable doesn’t feel rewarding or satisfying. Not much camping occurred on this winter trip. Will … Continue reading
Ready for…?
We’re ready…. We’ve been towing weight around the track at the gym… I’ve towed 205lbs for a 1/2 mile. I’ve deadlifted 200lbs once. Now I feel somewhat prepared to haul Will out of the woods in an emergency. Although he’s … Continue reading
